DVD - Embryology from a Biodynamic Perspective, with Dr Brian Freeman PhD.

This 6 DVD set contains 12 lecture topics from Dr Freeman PhD, delivered to an osteopathic conference in Bath July 3 – 4 2010. Topics presented were those requested by osteopaths as essential to the understanding of basic embryological principles and developing concepts within the biodynamic view of embryology. Each lecture is approximately 60 minutes long, with an additional chapter of accompanying question and answer session from the osteopaths in the audience, specific to each days presentations.

Dr Freeman, retired from his full time academic work in 2009, having spent much of his professional life teaching embryology and anatomy. His passion for embryology also took him to Europe, studying the work of Dr Erich Blechschmidt amongst others. One of his more recent accomplishments is his translation of Dr Blechschmidt ‘s book, “The Ontogenetic Basis of Human Anatomy: A Biodynamic Approach to Development from Conception to Adulthood”.

Each of the 6 DVDs contains two lecture topics, and accompanying question and answer sessions, where given. This allows easy search and viewing of the 12 subject topics.

The topics follow on from early conceptus, cell types and differentiation models, through to complex features of organisation of the CNS, heart, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, limb development etc. Dr Freeman extends his talks into the world of embryonic growth function, as grasping, stepping, breathing and facial expressions in the embryo as they relate to their post partumfunctions.

An understanding of embryological concepts is arguably the foundation of much of the study and clinical practice of osteopathy, and should perhaps be considered essential study for all osteopaths.

Some comments from delegates at the conference….

“I sat spellbound as Dr Freeman unfolded the mysteries of the embryo for me, I “got it” as never before”

“After 15 years I finally understood the true depth and relevance of embryology to osteopathy, thank you Dr Freeman”

“Wow, why hasn't someone introduced Dr Freeman to osteopaths before!!”
